(NEW ORLEANS) — Superior Energy Services, a global provider of oilfield services and rental equipment, has received the newest vessel in its fleet, the derrick barge Superior Pride, announced Charlie Hardy, executive vice president of Superior Energy Services’ Marine Services Division.
The Superior Pride is 400 ft. long, 100 ft. wide and 32 ft. deep and features an 880-metric ton crane manufactured by Husiman. It has a full galley and accommodations for 360 people. These accommodations include portable units installed by HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services company, which provide 60 additional bunks and 16 offices offering 34 work stations.
The vessel was recently delivered to Superior in Xiamen, China, where it was loaded onto a Dockwise submersible ship, the Trustee, for a 30-day voyage to West Africa. There it will be employed under a long-term contract.
“By adding the Superior Pride to our fleet, Superior now has two derrick barges that offer unique capabilities for heavy lifting, well intervention and subsea work,” said Hardy. “The extensive accommodations onboard these vessels also allow us to support clients’ projects requiring a large workforce.”
In addition to its two versatile derrick barges, Superior’s Marine Services Division also owns and operates the largest fleet of liftboats in the industry with leg lengths of 200 ft. or greater. These vessels are specially outfitted to deliver Superior’s production-related bundled services in support of clients’ construction, maintenance and production enhancement projects.
Superior Energy Services is a single-source provider of production-related services, rental tools and liftboats worldwide. Superior’s “bundled services” approach gives customers increased efficiency for faster project completion, less risk of downtime, greater scheduling control and the opportunity for cross-trained personnel to maximize use of equipment and rental tools.
Superior Energy Services, headquartered in New Orleans, employs more than 4,200 people in more than 130 locations worldwide.
