(WASHINGTON) — SpaceX is chartering a McDonough Marine Service barge for use as a landing pad for first-stage rockets returning to earth, Customs Today reported. The deck barge Marmac 300 was built in 1998 by Gulf Coast Fabrication in Pearlington, Miss., for Metairie, La.-based McDonough. The unmanned barge has been extended and features azimuthing thrusters and a modular controller installed by Thrustmaster.
