Forum speakers warn of GPS jammers, other maritime cyber threats

(NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.) — Electronic threats to the maritime industry include GPS jammers that can effectively render a vessel's communications useless, participants were told Monday at the Learning Seminar and Symposium on Maritime Cyber Security, according to the website In Homeland Security. Keynote speaker Capt. David Moskoff of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy warned of a "denial of service" attack involving jammers that are readily available on the Internet.
