Slowing economy idles lakers, tugboats at Port of Milwaukee

(MILWAUKEE, Wis.) — The economic recession has brought a noticeable quiet to the Port of Milwaukee, the Journal Sentinal newspaper reported. A decline in demand for iron ore has reduced vessel traffic this season. Tugboats and lakers are idle, and Great Lakes Towing is spending more time on maintenance.
