(LONDON) — Silverstream Technologies has announced the first commercial installation of its air lubrication system, to be deployed on the Norwegian Cruise Line vessel Norwegian Bliss, Digital Ship reported. The system produces a thin layer of micro bubbles on the flat bottom of the ship, reducing friction between the water and hull. In February, Silverstream and Shell reported that they had conducted a successful sea trial of the technology, claiming it could deliver fuel-efficiency savings of more than 4 percent.
