(HALIFAX, Nova Scotia) — An incident involving a containership losing power as it transited the Narrows has led to a call for mandatory stern lines, CBC News reported. OOCL Oakland, a post-Panamax ship, was turning toward the Macdonald Bridge on Nov. 5 when its engine momentarily failed three times. Three tugboats, one of them tethered to Oakland with a stern tow line, helped prevent an accident.
