Ship limits may have contributed to endangered-whale baby boom

(JAMESTOWN, R.I.) — The endangered right whale may be making a comeback in the North Atlantic, and marine biologists are investigating the possibility that new limits on shipping in the whale areas are a contributing factor, The Jamestown Press newspaper reported. Surveyors have detected a baby boom among the right whale population. Canada’s move to shift the location of the shipping lanes may have something to do with it, among other factors.
