(WINNIPEG, Manitoba) — The Arctic may be opening up to safe shipping faster than scientists previously thought, the Winnipeg Free Press reported. A University of Manitoba researcher says the quality of polar ice is degrading. He said navigation across the North Pole is “imminent.”
