S.C. docking pilot faithfully hangs on while business slumps

(GEORGETOWN, S.C.) — As ship traffic has declined sharply at Georgetown, business has slowed down for docking pilot Norm Assey, the Sun News newspaper of Myrtle Beach reported. Still, Assey perseveres and holds out hope that commercial traffic will improve. The port once handled 100 ships per year, but last year only had 22. He says he “can’t see it getting worse.”
