Rising tide inundates barge locked on piling

(COUPEVILLE, Wash.) — An 80-foot barge was inundated by the rising tide after a slip collar on an onboard piling locked in place, the South Whidbey Record reported. The barge was being used as a platform to pound pilings for an expansion at a local marina. An unsecured crane that was aboard the vessel toppled and sank in 40 feet of water.
