Retired USS Ranger arrives in Texas for dismantling

(BROWNSVILLE, Texas) — The aircraft carrier USS Ranger arrived in the Port of Brownsville on Sunday for dismantling, The Brownsville Herald reported. The 58-year-old decommissioned vessel, towed from the Navy’s inactive ships maintenance facility in Bremerton, Wash., will be taken apart at Rio Grande Valley’s International Shipbreaking Ltd. The scrap yard also handled the dismantling of the USS Constellation.
