Report: Rescuer heard sounds coming from sinking Cap Blanc’s hull

(MARYSTOWN, Newfoundland) — The first responder to the sinking of the Cap Blanc could hear sounds coming from inside the capsized vessel, the Chronicle Herald newspaper of Halifax, Nova Scotia, reported. A Royal Canadian Mounted Police boat was first to arrive and possibly heard at least one crew member banging on the hull. The cargo ship, carrying road salt, sank off Newfoundland without a distress call, after experiencing high winds and slowing to 4 knots. The four crewmen remain missing.
