(WASHINGTON) — Blackwater Worldwide has sent the former NOAA research ship McArthur to the Gulf of Aden to battle pirates on behalf of private shipping clients, the Washington Times reported. The 183-foot heavily armed vessel is manned with a crew of 45. The refurbished vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation systems, global maritime communications and a SEATEL broadband system.
