Relief shipment to Haiti halted because crew lacks mariner licenses

(MIAMI) — A Maine-based ship that had planned a humanitarian relief voyage to Haiti has been held up by the U.S. Coast Guard because the crew lacks merchant mariner licenses, the Portland Press Herald newspaper reported. After sailing down the Atlantic coast, the Sea Hunter is currently at Miami awaiting permission to sail to Haiti. The 220-foot ship is carrying 150 tons of supplies bound for the earthquake-stricken country.
