Prelude dethrones Emma Maersk as largest vessel afloat (VIDEO)

Samsung Ship

(GEOJE ISLAND, South Korea) — The containership Emma Maersk is no longer the world's largest seafaring vessel, Gizmodo reported on Wednesday. That honor is now held by Royal Dutch Shell's Prelude, which left its Samsung dry dock in South Korea for the first time this week. Measuring 1,601 feet long, 243 feet wide and weighing 600,000 tons, the LNG processing ship will also be the largest such floating refining facility on Earth when it's completed in 2017.
