Practice made perfect for NYC ferry crews in US Airways rescue

(NEW YORK) — The flotilla of ferries that responded to the crashed US Airways airplane in the Hudson River rescued the victims so quickly because of their frequent safety drills, the New York Times reported. The first responders included 20-year-old Brittany Catanzaro, who is the youngest ferry captain ever in New York. The captains of several vessels sailed straight for the downed airplane, without asking anyone in their companies for permission.
