Ports group, salvage association to host training seminar

The following is the text of a news release from the American Salvage Association (ASA):

(MIAMI) — The Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS), in partnership with the American Salvage Association (ASA), will be holding a workshop with senior port authority officials from the 34 member countries, ASA members, and CIP staff.

Experts from the salvage, wreck removal, marine firefighting and environmental response communities will present best practices, case studies and lessons learned over a three day event. Effective casualty management will be highlighted, including from government and port authority perspectives. Legal issues will be discussed including salvage law, wreck removal issues, and the impact of various international conventions. Attendees will be invited to participate on panel sessions to share their own experiences.
