Port of Oakland wins $12M in stimulus funds for dredging channel

(OAKLAND, Calif.) — The Port of Oakland has won $12 million in federal economic-stimulus funds to deepen its harbor, television station KPIX reported. The channel is being dredged to 50 feet from 42 feet to accommodate larger container ships. About $4 million of the money will be used to operate and maintain the harbor.
