Pacific Adventure Cruises adds luxury catamaran Catalina Adventure to fleet

(MARINA DEL REY, CA – December 12, 2007) Pacific Adventure Cruises has added the high-tech, high-speed luxury catamaran Catalina Adventure to its fleet.

Produced by Geo Shipyard, Inc. located in New Iberia, Louisiana, Catalina Adventure is a 19.79m catamaran that seats 149 passengers. Powered by Twin Cat C32 Caterpillar mains and a Northern Lights generator, the vessel is one of the few ferrying operations in Los Angeles that depart for Catalina Island from the extremely LAX-accessible Marina Del Rey.

Located 8 minutes from LAX, and a short ride from West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, Catalina Adventure is the fastest and most convenient way to travel to Catalina Island when visiting LA.

With the latest in technology, the “HYSUCAT” hydrofoil-assisted catamaran features comfortable seating, panoramic views, a sun deck and private lounge. It provides one of the smoothest rides around to Catalina Island.

“The HYSUCAT was designed for fuel efficiency and utilizes less horse power,” said David Le Comp, Director of Geo-Cat Shipyard Inc. “The ride of this catamaran is more comfortable for passengers than the typical catamarans that are being used out there.”

“We are excited to provide a much needed service for people who want to travel to Catalina Island,” said Ken Lawrence, partner of Pacific Adventure Cruises. “Residents in Ventura, Pasadena, Inland Empire and other cities outside of L.A. now have a closer option of traveling to Catalina as opposed to other ports which are farther in distance to those residents.”
