Owners of Picton Castle consider registering in Canada

(MONTREAL) — The owners of the sailing vessel Picton Castle are considering Canadian registration, Canwest News Service reported. Laura Gainey, the daughter of hockey legend Bob Gainey, was killed in an accident aboard the vessel in 2006. The Gainey family has since asked that the Picton Castle be registered in Canada, suggesting that safety standard would be better than under its current Cook Islands flag, and the owners have inquired with the Transportation Safety Board about doing just that.
