(TEXAS CITY, Texas) — The owner of a ship involved in a collision that caused an oil spill in Galveston Bay is seeking to stop claims against the company, The Daily News of Galveston reported. Attorneys for Sea Galaxy Marine, owner of the bulk carrier Summer Wind, have filed a petition to limit the company's liability in the March 22 collision with a fuel barge that spilled more than 168,000 gallons of oil. As owner of the towboat that was guiding the barge, Kirby Inland Marine is considered the “responsible party,” although it has not been determined who was at fault in the collision.
