OSVs evacuate 47 people after blowout at rig in Gulf of Mexico

(NEW ORLEANS) — Two offshore supply vessels evacuated 47 people from an drill rig after a natural gas blowout in the Gulf of Mexico, television station WWL reported. The blowout happened on a jackup rig operated by Hercules Offshore at a shallow-water well owned by Walter Oil & Gas about 40 miles from Grand Isle, La. All workers were evacuated and no one was injured.
