Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call from a crewmember aboard the research vessel, Western Monarch, at approximately 9:30 a.m. stating that a crewmember was missing after the work boat with four people aboard capsized while working with two research vessels, the Western Monarch and Western Neptune.
Three people were rescued by the Western Monarch. One man is still missing and was reported to be wearing an orange jump suit and a life jacket.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans launched an HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and a 41-foot utility boat and crew from Coast Guard Station Venice.
