Oil spills when tugboat strikes N.J. pier

(BAYONNE, N.J.) — A tugboat struck a fuel terminal pier Saturday night in Upper New York Harbor, spilling oil into the water, Reuters reported. The incident occurred at about 2200 hours near the International-Matex Tank Terminal. The U.S. Coast Guard was assisting private contractors Sunday to contain the spill, which is believed to be less than 1,000 gallons.
