(PORTLAND, Maine) — A pollution-control vessel that has been moored in Portland Harbor for more than two decades has been pulled from service amid changing economic conditions, the Portland Press Herald reported. The newspaper cited a loss of funding by the operator, Marine Spill Response Corp. of Virginia, and declining tanker traffic to the Portland Pipe Line Corp. for removing the 210-foot Maine Responder. Six crewmembers have been told they will lose their jobs.
