(MINNEAPOLIS) — Local officials took a barge ride on the Minnesota River to learn about the importance of the waterway, the Star-Tribune newspaper reported. The tour was partially to promote the commercial uses of the waterway. The river needs frequent dredging because it is an artery for grain barges.
