(JACKSON HOLE, Wyo.) — OceanMedix is pleased to announce our new Commercial Vessel Defibrillator Kit, first introduced at the 2014 International WorkBoat Show last December. As we actively expand our offering to better serve our commercial customers, an effort is being made to address the specific needs of that market. In addition, our tugboat customers are soon going to be governed by the new 46 CFR Subchapter M "Inspection of Towing Vessels" when adopted, and it will be necessary to address first aid equipment requirements under 140.435 to include an "appropriate" first aid kit/cabinet and, for some, AED requirements, and training. In addition to the Commercial Vessel Defibrillator Kit, OceanMedix is developing a range of "appropriate" first aid kits as well.
The core of the newly configured and branded Commercial Vessel Defibrillator Kit from OceanMedix is the Philips HeartStart FRx defibrillator. This model by Philips, a world leader in the development of medical devices and equipment, is a much more robust commercial-grade unit designed to withstand a compression test of 500 pounds, a drop test onto concrete from 3 feet, and meets the IP55 rating to withstand pressure-sprayed water — not waterproof, yet certainly much more substantial than the alternatives. It also can be utilized on a wet patient and while on a wet, metal deck if need be.
Configured in a waterproof hard-shell case, the Commercial Vessel Defibrillator Kit is complete with the Philips HeartStart FRx defibrillator with a long-life lithium battery and a set of Smart Pads; a spare long-life lithium battery; a spare set of Smart Pads; response prep supplies (shears, CPR mask, towel, prep razor and gloves); quick reference guide; owner's manual; and an eight-year Philips AED warranty. As configured the Commercial Vessel Defibrillator Kit is offered by OceanMedix at the price of $2,350. The kit is 13.5 by 11.75 by 6 inches, weighing 9 pounds.
• OceanMedix provides product notification and replacement services for date sensitive product components to include the Smart Pads and long-life lithium batteries.
• OceanMedix issues a physician's prescription for automated external defibrillator (AED)/certificate of authority with each commercial vessel defibrillator kit.
• OceanMedix can advise or make arrangements for AED Training and Certification in most locations within the U.S.
