NYC party boat, tug rescue 6 after vessel capsizes in Jamaica Bay

(NEW YORK) — Mariners from a New York City-based party boat and a tugboat rescued six people from Jamaica Bay after their 25-foot fishing boat capsized in bad weather, the New York Daily News reported. The vessel Capt. Dave II was carrying a group of high-school students when a faint mayday call went out. The victims of the capsizing, some of whom suffered from hypothermia, probably couldn’t have survived in the cold water much longer.
