(SAN DIEGO) — The National Transportation Safety Board now says it made a mistake when it said a Coast Guard crewman was texting in the moments before a fatal crash in San Diego Bay, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. The NTSB said it relied on cell-phone records from a telecommunications provider, which initially indicated that the petty officer was texting at the time of the crash that killed an 8-year-old boy. Now the agency says the cell-phone company didn’t adjust its records for the Pacific time zone, and the texting did not happen at that time.
