(NEW CASTLE, N.H.) — The U.S. Coast Guard has determined that the sinking of a work barge Saturday in the Piscataqua River was accidental, SeacoastOnline.com reported. Investigators said the barge operator was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and that there was no negligence involved. The 40-foot barge, owned by Pepperrell Cove Marine in Portsmouth, began taking on water after it ran aground on rocks.
