(EVERETT, Wash.) — Everett Ship Repair LLC (ESR) was established earlier this month by Ice Cap Holdings, the parent company of Ice Floe LLC, dba Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB). The expansion creates a diverse shipbuilding portfolio between the sister companies, offering NBBB’s newbuild expertise and ESR’s repair and service capabilities.
Everett Ship Repair will focus on vessel repair, maintenance and conversion with key customers including commercial operators, government agencies and military vessels. The new ESR location address is 2730 Federal Avenue in Everett, Wash. 98210. ESR is strategically located within Puget Sound, offering dry dock and pier side services for vessels under 430 feet.
Everett Ship Repair recently purchased Faithful Servant, a dry dock formerly located in Bellingham, Wash. The 492-by-148-foot dry dock arrived in Everett on Oct. 1 and immediately began preparations for operation. Faithful Servant is capable of docking vessels up to 430 feet in length with a beam of 110 feet and maximum draft of 32 feet. The lifting capacity for the dry dock is 7,800 LT. In addition to the dry dock, ESR has approximately 500 feet of dock side available for in-water service and support.
Ice Cap Holdings CEO Gavin Higgins, will manage the new sister companies comprising of Everett Ship Repair and Nichols Brothers Boat Builders. “This is a very exciting expansion” said Higgins. “ESR will mirror Nichols Brothers’ culture, values and training; and together we will offer outstanding shipbuilding from new construction to service and repair."
NBBB will continue business as usual at the Freeland, Wash., shipyard, supporting ESR as necessary to foster success and growth. NBBB is currently busy building two new Kitsap Transit passenger-only ferries and four new Foss Maritime tractor tugs, as well as preforming a complete rebuild of MS Sonoma, a Golden Gate Ferry.
