(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) — New York Water Taxi has hired its first female captain, television station WPIX reported. Juana Garcias started with the company eight years ago working in the concession stand and then as a deck hand. She went to night school to obtain her Coast Guard license. Ultimately she would like to be captain with the Staten Island Ferry.
