(NEW YORK) — The city of New York has taken over the South Street Seaport Museum while organizers seek an operator, the Wall Street Journal reported. The maritime museum, which was damaged by Hurricane Sandy, has been closed since April, and the Museum of the City of New York recently said it couldn't continue operating the South Street facility. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has appointed a skeleton board of trustees to oversee the organization, buying time while awaiting a new operating organization.
