Matson, maritime unions extend talks, avert strike for now

(HONOLULU) — Matson Navigation and its maritime unions have agreed to extend contract talks, averting a strike at least temporarily, the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper reported. The company’s contracts with the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots; Marine Engineers Beneficial Association, and American Radio Association expired last night. Contract talks continue today.
