Mariners, unions, pilots applaud Savannah River dredging findings

(SAVANNAH, Ga.) — Port officials, maritime unions and harbor pilots applauded the Army Corp of Engineers’ endorsement of the proposed deepening of the Savannah River to 48 feet, The Savannah Daily News reported. The Army Corps released a favorable environmental impact statement this week. The Savannah Pilots Association and Maersk Line were among the organizations reacting favorably to the Army Corps’ statement.
