Maine's Bath Iron Works to eliminate 179 shipbuilding jobs

(BATH, Maine) — A lack of steady shipbuilding contracts has prompted Bath Iron Works to eliminate 179 jobs, the Times Record newspaper of Brunswick reported. The layoffs include shipfitters, welders and others. The company failed to win a contract to build the Coast Guard's fast response cutter.
