Maine Responder on its way to assist Gulf cleanup (PHOTO, CHART)

(PORTLAND, Maine) — The Maine Responder, a Portland-based oil-recovery ship, is on its way to the Gulf of Mexico to participate in the oil-spill response, the Portland Press-Herald newspaper reported. The 208-foot vessel is responding via a wide-ranging mutual aid request. Officials said there are still enough resources on the Maine coast to respond to an accident there.
