(COPENHAGEN) — Maersk Line has paid a $3.1 million fine to the United States after breaking embargo rules regarding goods headed for Sudan and Iran, Agence France-Presse reported. The Treasury Department said Maersk used U.S.-flagged vessels to move goods in violation of embargoes against the two countries. A Maersk spokesman said the ships never actually went to Iran, and the Sudan violation was the result of inadequate documentation of previously approved humanitarian shipments.
