Maersk, Mediterranean Shipping win U.S. approval for alliance

(WASHINGTON) — The Federal Maritime Commission has given Maersk Line and the Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) the go-ahead for a vessel sharing pact, Reuters reported. The 2M alliance would allow the world's two largest container shippers to pool 185 vessels on European, trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific routes. The companies still need approval from regulators in Europe and China.
