Maersk Alabama captain freed after Navy gunfire kills pirates

(WASHINGTON) — The Maersk Alabama captain who was taken hostage by Somali pirates has been freed following a gun battle, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported. The U.S. Navy said about three pirates were killed, and the captain was unharmed.
