(PLAQUEMINE, La.) — A swing bridge in Grosse Tete will be closed for at least two months after being struck by a barge Friday, WAFB reported. Aprons are in place to prevent ships, barges and tugs from damaging the bridge over the intracoastal canal, but the head-on strike shifted a concrete section of the span nearly 6 inches. Eight pilings were also damaged.
