(MELVILLE, N.Y.) — Bouchard Transportation Co. has been nominated for 2017 Ship Operator of the Year, Americas, by Lloyd’s List. The nomination takes into account Bouchard’s latest expansion, as well as the company’s focus on safety. Finalists and industry executives will gather on May 25 in New York City, where the winners for each category will be revealed and awarded for their achievements in the past year.

2016 included major accomplishments for Bouchard, including the conclusion of a major expansion plan which produced the ATB units M/V Kim M. Bouchard and B. No. 270, and M/V Donna J. Bouchard and B. No. 272. The expansion also included two new ATB tugs, M/V Frederick E. Bouchard and M/V Morton S. Bouchard Jr., as well as the conversion of two barges to Intercon.

The investments made to expand Bouchard’s fleet have increased fuel efficiency, capacity and speed. Safety also continues to be Bouchard’s top priority, and it is showcased within the design of all vessels, as well as within Bouchard’s routine maintenance policies.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for our vast achievements over the past year, particularly as we near our milestone anniversary of 100 years in 2018. We are dedicated and committed to our customers, maintaining our equipment to the highest standards, and most importantly, the safety of our operation. These are all integral parts of a corporate philosophy that will continue to drive our business forward," said Morton S. Bouchard III, president and CEO of Bouchard Transportation Co.
