Last wooden-hulled steam tug loses funding in BC (PHOTO)

(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — North America’s last wooden-hulled steam tugboat is seeking new sources of funding now that it has lost support from the lottery, the North Shore News newspaper reported. The SS Master Society is seeking new memberships to help fund the vessel’s maintenance cost of $50,000 a year. To support the cause, Vancouver’s Allied Shipbuilders recently completed a refit for free.
