India officials approve scrapping of toxic ship Platinum II (PHOTO)

(RAJKOT, India) — State environmental authorities have cleared the way for a ship-breaking yard to scrap the controversial U.S. ship Platinum II, the news Web site IndianExpress.com reported. The passenger liner contains several toxic substances and was the subject of a protest when it arrived on the India coastline. The ship allegedly arrived under a fake registry.
