Illinois riverbank casino closes after protective barges break loose

(ALTON, Ill.) — Two protective barges broke loose along a riverbank casino, forcing the gambling house to close temporarily, the Alton Telegraph newspaper reported. Pressure from ice was blamed for breaking the vessels from their pylon moorings. A tugboat retrieved the wayward barges, and the casino reopened.
