How Houston’s tugboat fleet prevailed over Hurricane Ike

(HOUSTON) — The region’s tugboat fleet has been credited with minimizing damage from Hurricane Ike in the Houston Ship Channel, the Houston Chronicle newspaper reported. While most of the city was evacuating, tugboat crews protected fuel barges and retrieved one large ship that broke free from its moorings. Buffalo Marine sent three tugs out to corral the loose ship.
