House approves increase in barge fuel tax

(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. House of Representatives has approved an increase in the barge fuel tax, the Quad-City Times reported. The bill passed Wednesday will raise the tax per gallon from 20 cents to 29 cents, adding to money for lock and dam repair through the Inland Waterways Trust Fund. The measure must still pass the Senate.
