Historic cable-repair ship undergoes $1.25M restoration in Florida

(KEY WEST, Fla.) — A historic sailing ship that was used to repair undersea telegraph cables has received a $1.25 million restoration, CBSMiami.com reported. The schooner Western Union was built in 1939 in Key West, and it served as a tour boat for previous owner Historic Tours of America. A preservation society acquired it and undertook the three-year restoration, and it will resume service as a tour vessel.
