Hawaii Superferry files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

(WILMINGTON, De.) — The operator of Hawaii Superferry has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Bloomberg News reported. HSF Holding Inc. says it plans to shut its business completely and liquidate its assets. A Hawaii state court ruled earlier this year that the interisland ferry couldn’t operate under a special state law that exampted it from the normal environmental impact assessment.
