The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:
(NEW ORLEANS) — The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a towing vessel in the Gulf of Mexico four miles south of Grand Isle, La., Wednesday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at approximately 5:30 p.m., via marine-band radio, from the captain of the Lanta Rose that a man aboard the vessel was reportedly experiencing a headache and vomiting after inhaling an unknown chemical. Coast Guard Station Grand Isle launched a 33-foot Special Purpose Craft (SPC-LE) and crew to the scene at approximately 6 p.m. The crew successfully transferred the man off the towing vessel and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services at Station Grand Isle.
The man was taken to Lady of the Sea General Hospital in Cut Off, La.
The man’s condition is unknown.
